iPad might be loosing ground to rivals Android tablets but then again, the web traffic share speak a different story. The last reported sales statistics show that iPad’s share in the tablet market dropped down to almost 50% but Chikita reports that in February 2013 iPad showed a web traffic share of 80.5% which proves how usable iPads are. Back in January Chikita said that iPad web traffic share dropped from 87% to 81%, a drop of 6%, but it has been almost stagnant till the month of February loosing ground only by 0.5%. Analysts say that iPad retaining its web traffic share is mainly because of launch of iPad mini last holiday season which witness an overwhelming response as usual.
Chikita has a very comprehensive network of 250,000 websites being monitored for various mobile devices accessing the websites. They collect a sample of millions of impressions casted over these websites and prepare a report. In the latest report Chikita claims that Android tablet web traffic share is primarily dominated by Amazon extending its lead over Samsung by almost double web usage. Although Amazon seems to be showing promising signs it still lags behind apple by almost 10 times.
Apple might retain its traffic share for the coming months with rumours pouring in about the next generation iPad to be launched in the month of March which is not quite far away. There is even a chance of traffic share spiking up further after the launch of new iPad.
